Let's Create Memories Together.
Catskills NY Wedding
As an artist, attracted to other artists, every once in a while you come across an opportunity for a collaboration on something you couldn’t even have imagined. It’s the beauty of collaborations, and creating, in this case, images, that are representative of different mind sets and cultures and traditions. As a wedding photographer, I appreciate that every day that I am hired to document a union of 2 souls, or a special gathering of some sort, it is always different, and it keeps me on my toes – because my job is just to observe, like a kid in a candy store, and capture life the way I see it.
So when Addison and Leah approached me to capture their special intimate wedding at Spillian Manor in Fleischmanns, NY, of only 20 guests, and with a weekend-long celebration (although I was only there for one of the days), I listened… both talented artists themselves, Leah a film maker, and Addison a painter and illustrator… this was an event that was heavily thought out, to give their friends and guests a completely 3-dimensional, sensual and thought provoking experience – a re-evaluation of what it means to be “married”….
These images definitely need a bit of explaining, as out of context they may not make as much sense… but you certainly will get the feeling of what it was like to be there… the morning activities were serene: relaxing in bed, reading and journaling, meditation and yoga, conversation, and enjoying the surrounding nature of the Catskills. As guests changed in the many bedrooms of Spillian Manor, into their white robes, Addison and Leah prepared in their own bedroom with special headdresses, also wearing white, and guests were blindfolded for an intense multi-senses seance experience by the actors/dancers who would later lead the guests into the woods and perform for them a ceremony of the Elements (Earth, Air, Wind, Fire). The celebration culminated in a torrential downpour, it seemed as though, just at the right time, when the ceremony finished, and guests were gathering back at the manor for dinner… so of course, in true spirit of the day….. they joined together in dance and laughter under the rain!
