Best Wedding Photographs of 2014 // A Year In Review

Every end of the year as I’m hustling to wrap up my last wedding of the year and enjoy the holidays with my family, I get a chance to look back and realize how lucky I am to have a job that I absolutely love, with clients that just make my every day tasks so pleasant… as cliché as it may sound, I really do love my job… having the task to capture a glimpse into people’s lives in every single photograph, and including the emotions of the day, to bring you right back to the moment, is certainly not an easy one, and I do not take it for granted… but I love it… every single story is unique, and the challenge to capture all of these memories into a collection of photographs is one that I enjoy…

This particular year, 2014, was an incredibly special one for me…

As I learned to juggle the challenges of being a new mom, trying to juggle my time between my family and my dear clients (thank you for being so patient with me!), I have acquired a new appreciation for my profession and those moms that are able to run a household, run a business, enjoy their family time, and keep everyone happy in the meantime..

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned this year through spending time with my daughter, as I dodged questions of “you must take a lot of pictures of your daughter!” or just smiled and nodded… the truth is… the majority of the pictures of my daughter are with my slow as molasses iPhone 4… every once in a while, perhaps at a special event or holiday I would pull out the DSLR and “pretend” to put the “professional photographer” in me to use… but most importantly, I learned, it’s ok to put it down and just enjoy the moment… let other people take pictures and tag me later… or just take some crappy pictures on my iphone… because the times that I was “trying” to do the right thing and be the documentary photographer that I am… I would miss the moments happening right in front of me because I was trying to find light, or composition, or moment… which is what I do for my clients all the time… so yeah… I have a new appreciation for photography, because the moments that were actually captured were indeed precious and one in a few, and also a new definition for when it is appropriate to put down the camera, and just let your memory take over…

Below is a compilation of some of my favorite moments and portraits that I’ve taken throughout the year of all of you… thank you for being a part of such a wonderful and special year for me… and in the middle of course, my precious Valentina, who turned 1 year old on 12.21.14, and has changed my life but most of all has taught me patience, and to slow down…

….Happy New Year friends….
