Let's Create Memories Together.
Gelston House Wedding
Meghan and Eoin have a story worth melting for…
They met as bridesmaid and best-man at their mutual best friends’ wedding in Manchester, England, and were inseparable since. You’d think that’s a pretty simple story to tell, but Meghan was only in town for a few days from America. Ever since then, between Meghan’s Master’s program, and commuting back and forth to see each other and meet their families, getting to actually see each other became a bit difficult… by their third visit to each other, they knew they wanted to be together and bought their first home in England – but had physically seen each other for less than 30 days! After an entire summer together in their new home together, and another visit to America, Eoin proposed to Meghan, at the beautiful location where they decided to eventually hold their wedding.
I am always enamored by stories of long-distance relationships, how the power of love can pull you both together no matter the oceans or miles apart, and you can still feel that connection to each other.
Meghan, Eoin, and I only had met through a couple of virtual meetings (oh the power of the internet!) prior to their wedding, but I felt like I knew them so well, and throughout the evening I laughed with them and their families as the speeches from different friends and family members gave us an even bigger glimpse of how crazy these two are for each other, and how crazy their families are too (seriously, laughing so hard behind my camera)! So it’s a perfect match that’s meant to be!
Another thing I love about long distance relationships – the relationship you can foster with a complete stranger (being myself, the photographer), and the trust that you can empower them with, to see your relationship through their eyes… and all because of a little thing called the “World Wide Web” which connects us through ways unimaginable…
Meghan + Eoin’s wedding took place at what looked like a restaurant straight out of an antique photo from the old days in CT… The Gelston House in East Haddam, CT… the same exact location (I love meaningful locations like this!) as Eoin proposed… and was a perfect location for their intimate wedding to hold all of their laughter, overlooking the river.
Some of my favorite images tell the story below…
