Janna + Lisa’s wedding took place at the Woodland Women’s Club of Maplewood NJ. It was one of my first opportunities to photograph a same sex wedding in NJ and I had a blast! We began at their home in West Orange, where they live with their 2 awesome dogs (if you don’t know already, I’m a huge fan of dogs in weddings), and the personal touch of a casual lunch at home with the family, getting ready all together in the home that is a part of them. These ladies put together every single part of their reception and ceremony on their own – from coordinating the entertainment, with games, a photobooth, decorating (which they did until the very day of), and ending the night off with karaoke where everyone participated in. I just love it when I get to experience not only fun, authentic weddings and couples that seem to just fit together perfectly, but also, that they made the party about them, and about their guests participating and having fun, and celebrating their love for each other in a fun, unordinary, out of the box sort of way.
